Bill met Martha at a dance while in college and after dancing together
all evening, they knew there was some “special” magic there.
They have been dancing together ever since. It wasn’t until the late
70’s that they discovered square dancing. A year later discovered rounds
and knew it was for them.
They began teaching in 1981 and by 1983, formed the National Carousel
Club #157 that still dances on the average of three times a month.
They currently conduct five classes a week and travel throughout the USA
and Canada, as guest instructors for weekend clinics and festivals.
They have also been on staff for many long standing events at Asilomar,
CA; Kirkwood Lodge, MO; Fun Valley, CO; Red River, NM; English Mt, TN &
Fontana, NC. They have also taught at
several National Square Dance Conventions, URDC and DRDC.
Bill & Martha have been active in the Louisiana Round Dance Teachers
Association, and are members of Roundalab, Dixie Round Dance Council, URDC,
TRDTA & MRDTA. They have served on
the Board of Directors of URDC as well as secretary of the organization.
To date the Bucks have choreographed over sixty-five round dances. Many are still popular. Some of their
favorites are: A Poor Man’s Roses, Jean III, Blueberry Hill, Making Memories
FT & One More Bolero.
Recent choreography Includes: My
Reason for Living, Love Melody, Somebody Loves You, Funny Face IV, Happy Ever
After, Flamingo, & Together Hand in Hand.
Bill is a retired medial sales representative from Bristol-Meyers
Squibb. Martha is a retired supervisor of Early Childhood Education in the
public schools.
They look forward to the summers when they can spend time with their
13-year-old grandson, Matthew, who loves to travel with them.
Other interests include bird watching
and collecting Beanie Babies.
